展示台の上で，小さなロボットたちが動き回っています．ロボットの背中はディスプレイになっており，画面の中では小さな丸いオブジェクトたちが，こちらも盛んに動き回っています．ロボットはときおり激しく動き出すことがあり，別のロボットとなんらかの情報をやりとりしているようです．
《かぞくっち》は，現実空間の箱庭に設置された「家」と呼ばれるロボットと，その家に生息するデジタル人工生命体「かぞくっち」の家族によって構成される作品です．「かぞくっち」の各個体の情報（名前，生年月日，家系）はNFTに登録されており，売買することも可能です．また「かぞくっち」は繁殖可能であり産まれた卵にも自動的にNFTが発行されますが，繁殖が成功するためには，繁殖期にある二つの「家」が，物理的に適切な位置関係にある必要があります．
物理的なロボットの挙動がNFT（ブロックチェーン）上のアクションに反映されることや，「イエ」「家系」といった人間社会のメタファーが重ねられていることなど，《かぞくっち》にはブロックチェーンやNFTという新しい技術が社会にとってどのような意味をもちうるかや，新しい社会実装の形などについて，考えるためのヒントが秘められているのではないでしょうか．本展では，作品展示と並行して，オンライン・アーティスト・イン・レジデンス
プログラムとして，ゲストとのディスカッションやそれを踏まえた作品のアップデートなどを，会期を通じて行なっていく予定です．

“Kazokutchi” 2022

Installed in the exhibition space is a pedestal on which little robots move around. The robots have displays embedded in their backs, on which small round-shaped objects can be seen moving actively as well. Every now and then, the robots’ movements become additionally vigorous, and they seem to interact in some way with other robots.
The work “Kazokutchi” consists of robots called “houses,” installed on a pedestal inside the exhibition space, and families of Kazokutchi, digital artificial lives, that inhabit those houses. The data of each member of a Kazokutchi family (name, date of birth and family tree) are registered as NFTs, and can be traded. Kazokutchi can reproduce by fertilizing eggs, for which new NFTs are then automatically issued. For a successful fertilization, two “houses” need to be at an appropriate physical distance from each other during the breeding period.
In “Kazokutchi,” the behavior of physical robots is reflected in the NFTs’ (blockchain) actions, along with metaphors of human social life such as “house” or “family tree.” These certainly work as hints that inspires us to think about what meanings such novel technologies as blockchains and NFT may assume within the human society, and consider possible new social formats. Next to the display of works, this exhibition is part of ICC’s Artists-in-Residence Online program that also includes discussions with guests, based on which the items on display will be updated throughout the exhibition period.
